GENERAL REFERENCE SITES
The internet is FULL of sites and information, most of which is unsubstantiated opinion and/or just plain crap.  Here are some credible sites that you can trust.

nutritiondata.self.com  -Nutritional info about nearly any food and recipe that you enter(nutritional data, gylcemic index, etc). Also a tremendous amount of other info including a great description of the glycemic index/glycemic load, recipes, and more.
westonaprice.org - Website of The Weston A. Price Foundation. Probably the most referenced, scientific, unbiased food resource available
whfoods.com - Well referenced.  Includes info on how to select, store and prepare food items. Discussed specific health benefits of each item. Only "healthy" foods are in their database
mercola.com - World's leading natural health website. The author is as pure and extreme right wing about natural health as can be.  However, the search for the truth requires someone to assume that role.
http://ods.od.nih.gov - Office of dietary supplements
